CHAIRMAKER EXHIBITION Takayama Chair Exhibition

We will be participating as an exhibitor.

Toru Asakura will be in the gallery on Saturdays and Sundays. (Toru Asakura's mobile phone number is 080-5372-9672)

Rena Asakura will be in the gallery on Thursday and Friday.

A side note:

The Takayama Festival will be held on October 9th and 10th.

The Takayama Festival is one of Japan's three major float festivals, along with the Gion Festival in Kyoto and the Nagahama Hikiyama Festival in Shiga.

Karakuri dolls and other items are also on display. Float pullers make their way around the streets of Takayama city.

There will also be a Yoi Matsuri on October 9th.

It will be held within walking distance of the Takayama Chair Exhibition venue.

Side note 2:

At the venue, Kusakabe Folk Crafts Museum,

There is apparently an accommodation facility called "Taniya" next door.

"This inn is a renovated detached building that is over 100 years old and can accommodate only one group per day.

In addition to being able to enjoy the charm of the Kusakabe family residence,

You can experience firsthand the history and climate of Hida and Takayama.

The entire building can be rented exclusively, with a maximum capacity of 4 people and two beds and two futon sets.

As a Kyoto resident watching the townhouses in Kyoto being demolished one after another,

I think it's wonderful that Takayama is protecting its townhouses through such a variety of initiatives.
