The nearest cafe, lunch and gallery "Kigyusha" : open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays (Fridays and Mondays) *Opening hours change depending on the season
2 minutes by car or 5 minutes by foot from Kyoto Sumiyama Asakura Mokko. Ceramic artist Sohei Yamamoto has renovated a former cowshed into a cafe and gallery. In addition to the pork loin cutlet lunch, new menu options have been added in the summer of 2024, such as an open sandwich with white sauce, mushrooms and cheese, and coffee jelly with a drink full of milk. This popular shop has cars lined up in the parking lot from Kyoto and other prefectures. Some of the Asakura Mokko keyaki lacquer corner trays (320 x 200 mm) are used. Rather than reserving a seat, you can reserve your lunch for the approximate time of arrival. 14 minutes drive south from Asakura Mokko. Within walking distance from JR Obaku Station. Delivered high stools for the counter. The primitive shape of the "Elephant Chair" attracted the customer, and they chose it for the counter. The old house has tatami seating, so it is safe for families with children. Popular with the elderly, as the taste is difficult to make at home. "First-class architectural firm. A curry restaurant created by an architect fascinated by spicy curry."

Bakery "Tamakitei"
A popular bakery called "Tamakitei" is a popular stop for visitors to Kyoto Sumiyama Asakura Mokko. The nearest station is Obaku Station. When I went there at 7:30 a.m. on a weekday in December 2024, a lot of bread was already baked and packed! I was able to buy it without waiting in line. If you go at 9 or 10 o'clock, there is usually a line, probably because the Kyoto University Uji Campus is across from the store. My personal average time waiting in line so far is about 30 minutes. Once inside, you can't go back, so everyone carefully chooses and moves forward. There are many types of sweet bread that needs to be refrigerated, and salty bread that can be stored at room temperature. "Curry bread", "homemade cream bread", and brown rusks called "kogepan" are also popular. If you are coming from afar and want to buy souvenirs, it may be a good idea to bring a container that can keep it cool. (There are no card payments, only cash. Information from December 2024)

4Uji area
If you drive 17 minutes south from Kyoto Sumiyama Asakura Mokko, you will find the Ujibashi Shopping Street on the road from Uji Station to Byodo-in Temple. It is a fun road to walk on, with old-fashioned tea shops and restaurants, as well as a growing number of new shops. If you start from Lova, which is 350m (5 minutes on foot) from Uji Station, it is 800m to Byodo-in Temple, about a 15-minute walk. However, you can enjoy stopping by various shops, such as a wooden toy shop and a tenugui hand towel shop.
LovA, a restaurant serving seasonal cuisine and tempura, is located in Ujibashi Shopping Street, a 15-minute drive from Asakura Mokko.
We delivered a zelkova book-match diagonally cut table to "Lova Uji" in Uji city. A restaurant in an old house. Seasonal dishes and tempura. There are tatami rooms and high chairs, so it is a restaurant that is easy to enter even with children. The portions are large enough to satisfy men, and there is also a counter where women can sit comfortably alone, so it has been a restaurant that has been loved by people of all ages and genders since 2009.

05 Kasatori area
For young children: "Actopal athletic equipment and long slide" (free)
It takes 17 minutes to get there from Kyoto Sumiyama Asakura Woodworks along the mountain path. When my children were small, I often took them to the athletics and long slide. It's a full-scale athletics facility, so preschoolers need to keep an eye on them, but children love it. If you walk from the parking lot, it's a 10-minute adult walk (650m) to the very back of the facility, where you can play for free all day by writing your name at the gymnasium reception you pass along the way. Parking is also free. There is an astronomical observation room, so I think it's a good idea to participate in events for solar observation and astronomical observation. ``Please refrain from eating and drinking anywhere in the management building except the cafeteria (no lunch boxes allowed). Please use the outdoor plaza for lunch boxes and other meals. From the website'' In the outdoor plaza, you can often see parents and children playing with frisbees and balls and eating their lunch boxes. ``Actopal Uji is one of Kyoto's leading facilities for experiencing slow life, with the theme of ``interacting with nature and interacting in nature.'' In addition to outdoor activities such as outdoor cooking and campfires, you can also experience stargazing using one of the largest refracting telescopes in Kyoto Prefecture and ground golf. Various seasonal events are held, making this a facility that can be enjoyed all year round. Anyone can use it for nature experiences and forest learning, sports, study camps, various training sessions, barbecues and camping with family and friends. Why not spend a relaxing time in Kasatori, which is full of nature? Based on the theme of "interacting with nature and interacting in nature," there are accommodation facilities, camping facilities, an astronomical observatory, and a ground golf course, and you can enjoy activities such as nature observation, hometown experiences, and agricultural experiences in the clear air. From the Actpal website"
